Grand Slam

Our friends Shawn and Trish Holmes were too late to sign up for the runners series (which will qualify you to run the St. George Marathon if you run 2 St. George City races so you don’t have to enter the lottery). So Shawn decides to sign up for the Grand Slam of Utah. If you’re thinking he is crazy, yes me too! Anyways, the Grand Slam means you have to run 4 marathons one of which is the St. George Marathon so you have an automatic entrance. Yep, you got it not one, not 2, not 3 but 4 marathons, 26.2 miles times by 4 equals 104.8 miles and that doesn’t include the training! CRAZY! (Trish wasn’t crazy enough to do the Grand Slam and opted for the lottery of the St. George Marathon)

My thoughtful sweet sexy husband decided to be a good friend and do this CRAZY grand slam with him…yes you heard me! He too will be running 4 marathons. Oh did I mention it all happens within 5 months. So that is 104.8 miles in marathon race miles, but that doesn’t include the training part of it.
I think they are nutz!
So the St. George Lottery has come and gone and guess what?? Yep you guessed it our friends, Shawn and Trish, got into the marathon through the lottery! So the Grand Slam is just a little added BONUS;)

So now that you know the story and how they ended up doing the Grand Slam. They have already run their first Ogden Marathon on May 19th.

They both did great. We are so proud of our runners. It takes a lot of dedication to train for these marathons. Good job boys!

They will be running the Utah Valley Marathon June 9th, Park City Mararthon August 15th, and St. George Marathon October 6th.

YOU CAN DO IT!

SOCCER!

Soccer season has come and gone for AJ. He started Varsity as a defender. He was a tough player and had a great season. They ended the season 4th in Region. They had to play Wasatch (his old team and defending state champs) for the first round in the play offs where they lost 4-1. He will be a senior next year with great talent to give to the team.
Great job AJ!

Junior Prom

AJ went to Junior Prom with Erika Hansen. They had a day date up at his grandparent’s cabin in Pine Valley. Where they rode 4-wheelers, hiked, and had lunch. They had a lovely dinner and Samurai 21 Steakhouse. He looked very handsome in his tux (mullet and all)!

Kennedi turns 3!

Kennedi turned 3 April 11. She is quite the character. She is loveable, cuddly, and a mommy’s girl. But on the other had she is a teaser, mischievous, and full of fun. She loves to tease and annoy Kamri. She is also so a junk food junkie. Any candy, soda, chips, etc. and she will eat, eat, eat.
She is such a blessing to our family. We love her to pieces!
Happy Birthday Kennedi!

Easter

We had a great Easter. We went to the neighborhood Easter egg hunt in the morning. After we dyed easter eggs with the neighbor kids. Then later that day we went to Jumpin’ Jacks Easter party. They got to say hello to the Easter Bunny. Kennedi didn’t like him at all. Then they had a big Easter Egg hunt for all kids. It was lots of fun. Sunday morning we had Easter at our home. They got summer outfits and had another Easter egg hunt.

Andy went to turn on the sprinklers and I told him to not let them run in the backyard because the eggs were back there for the egg hunt. About 20 minutes later I hear a water noise. I ask Andy if the washing machine was running…he jumps up and runs outside to turn the sprinklers off. Luckily the candy was in the plastic eggs and wrapped in wrappers. Nothing got ruined but it was great story;)

Dixie Dragons Competition Soccer

Jadyn got to play for the Dixie Dragons U10 soccer team. She really loves the games but not the practices…she asked “Can’t you find me a team where we only play games and not practice?” Yes she was serious. What a girl. She plays forward and is learning new skills. She has scored some goals at her games and will be playing in Summer Games this June.

Presidents Day Weekend

We were able to have our friends Shawn, Trish, Alex, and Andrue Holmes from Heber come visit us. We had a great time. We went swimming, went to Mesquite for a Breakfast buffet and some bowling. They even went for a run and we just hung out. It was lots of fun!

Basketball

McKade played in a basketball league this year. He is learning lots of new things and had a fun season. He played center. Being the tallest kid on the team helps in the position you play;)

Visit to Grandmas in Las Vegas

In January we went to visit Grandma Donna in Las Vegas and the Matt Yergensen family came down from Roosevelt. We had a great time going bowling and hanging out with cousins.

Christmas 2011

For Christmas this year we were minus two kids. McKade and Jadyn got to go on a Hawaiian cruise with their other side of the family. When they got home Santa had left them presents but I forgot to get the camera out. OOPS!
